There’s now a new option in East Tennessee for addiction treatment that takes TriCare.

“Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few” – so said British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in a 1940 speech commemorating the sacrifices of that nation’s armed forces.

At Cornerstone of Recovery, a drug and alcohol treatment center located near Knoxville, we recognize keenly the sacrifices made by men and women who served in the United States military – which makes it an honor to now serve both retired and active duty military personnel who need addiction and alcoholism treatment through the TriCare network.

Addiction treatment that takes TriCare: What is it?

TriCare is “the health care program for uniformed service members, retirees, and their families,” and provides “comprehensive coverage to all beneficiaries” – including drug and alcohol treatment. The heroic nature of military service often makes conversations about alcohol and drug problems among active duty personnel and veterans uncomfortable ones.

But at Cornerstone of Recovery, we’re honored to be a new option for addiction treatment that takes TriCare, because we recognize these problems for what they are: legitimate medical conditions, recognized as illnesses by science and medicine, that often present alongside service-related issues. For example:

Why Cornerstone of Recovery?

As a nationally respected leader in the substance abuse treatment field for more three decades, Cornerstone of Recovery has long recognized that addiction and alcoholism treatment involves so much more than simply helping patients stop using a particular substance – which makes us well-suited to provide the care that veterans and active duty military personnel might need. From traditional, abstinence-based methods to evidence-based therapies drawn from psychology, we help our patients address, unravel and resolve issues from childhood to adulthood and from the personal to the professional – and as the area’s premier facility offering addiction treatment that takes TriCare, we’re well-equipped to help out our nation’s heroes.

As part of the TriCare East region, we serve TriCare policyholders – active duty military personnel, veterans and active duty members of the National Guard – in Tennessee and the following states: Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

From the moment a TriCare patient arrives, we’ll work with them to develop an individualized treatment plan that best meets their needs. We have trauma therapists on staff to work with PTSD issues, licensed clinicians who conduct Cognitive Processing Therapy and a dedicated psychiatric team that evaluates each patient for dual diagnosis treatment needs to address co-occurring mental health problems. In addition, veterans meet regularly as part of our dedicated veterans group, led by staff members who have military experience themselves and who help those patients examine ways in which their drug and alcohol problems may be intersected with their service, as well as ways in which their training can be used as sobriety tools.

Recovery from addiction and alcoholism involves so much more than stopping the use of alcohol and drugs and walking away. It’s about building a new way of life that’s fulfilling, rewarding and productive in ways that never were before – and for those of us at Cornerstone of Recovery, the opportunity to help former or current members of the United State military find that new way of life is an honor. We’re not the only East Tennessee facility to offer addiction treatment that takes TriCare, but we’re one of the best, and we consider it a privilege to lend a helping hand to those who have sacrificed for their country.
